In November 2022, we set an ambitious goal of raising €30,000 in 40 days through crowdfunding. Our goal was to give the first 3,000 children access to our Rise Up Now resilience program in early 2023. And to our great joy, this succeeded!
Thanks to the generous contributions of our supporters, we are proud to introduce to you our very own Rise Up Now team. Currently, our team is already reaching 200 children a week with the Rise Up Now program. They visit one to two schools daily, despite the sometimes long distances they have to travel. This way they can reach 8 to 10 classes each week, which means we are already making a difference in the lives of about 200 children a week!
Rise Up Now focuses on empowering children in life through training based on cognitive learning theory. We believe that children’s thoughts determine their feelings and behaviors. Therefore, our goal is to replace negative core beliefs with positive thoughts and help children stand up for themselves in a healthy way.
How do we realize this? Our program includes various aspects that strengthen children’s resilience:
- Strengthening Resilient Attitude: We teach children how to exude self-confidence through body language and voice. By developing these skills, they can be stronger in life.
- Reinforcing positive thinking and self-confidence: We encourage children to appreciate their own qualities and those of others and assign positive traits. As a result, they develop healthy self-esteem and confidence in themselves.
- Strengthening emotion regulation: It is important that children learn to manage tension and emotions. We teach them the difference between healthy and unhealthy tension and give them tools to relax. In this way, they can better handle stressful situations.
- Strengthening skills in resilience: We teach children how to stand up for themselves, say no in a firm way and set their boundaries. These skills are essential for building healthy relationships and protecting themselves.
- Strengthening social skills: Cooperation and problem solving are important social skills. We teach children how to work together effectively and find constructive solutions. This helps them build positive relationships with others.
The Rise Up Now program has already achieved significant results by reaching hundreds of children each week. We are excited to see how these children are stronger in life and experiencing positive changes. Thanks to the support of our donors, we can continue to expand our reach and help more children strengthen their resilience.
